It was only after 1848 that Jews were able to settle in Aussig, as it was a royal city. Jews were not allowed to settle in such a town.
The neoclassical synagogue from the 1880s in the ‚Kleine Wallgasse‘ was financed by donations from members of the community. The official dedication was performed by the Rabbi of Teplice Artur Rosenzweig.
The synagogue in Aussig was spontaneously‘vandalized and burned down by the population on December 31, 1938. The exterior walls were preserved. A butcher's shop was set up in the ruins of the fire and, after partial demolition, the remaining walls of the synagogue were used as a public toilet.
Since 2009, the former site has been developed with the Forum Ústí nad Labem shopping center.
