The Rosa Klauber lace store with two branches and its own production facilities existed from 1859 to 1938. In 1859, Rosa Klauber from Bohemia founded the lace house at Tal 76. Later, under the management of her son Moritz Klauber, the store moved first to Theatinerstrasse 16 and then to Theatinerstrasse 35. The third generation of the family to run the business were Rosa Klauber's grandsons Ernst, Ludwig and Siegfried Klauber.
In 1926, they opened a second branch at Marienplatz 2. From 1927, a manufacturing plant for women's lingerie was located at Dachauer Straße 112. The lace house was a purveyor to the court and sold its goods throughout Germany and abroad. In 1938, the company had around 200 employees.
In autumn 1938, the company was “aryanized”; Ernst, Ludwig and Siegfried Klauber emigrated to the USA. From 1943, they continued to run the company in New York under the name Klauber Brothers.
