Emma Schwarz was born on 4 March 1873 as Emma van Geldern in Essen and lived in Freren. On December 13, 1941 she was deported to the ghetto Riga and on November 2, 1943 to the extermination camp Auschwitz, where she was murdered still in November 1943.

Martin Manne was born in 1899 and was married to Erika Manne. Together they were deported to the Riga ghetto in 1941. After the ghetto was dissolved in November 1943, they were transported to Auschwitz, where their three-year-old son Samuel and his grandmother Emma were separated during the selection. He himself and his wife Erika üsurvived the Holocaust and were liberated; they later moved to Lidingö near Stockholm, where he died in 1988.

Erika Schwarz was born on February 5, 1915, the daughter of Benno and Emma Schwarz in Freren. She attended the Catholic girls school in Thuine and moved after 1933 to Hanover, where she met Martin Manne and married him on February 14, 1939. The marriage produced a son, Samuel, born in 1939. On December 11, 1941, she was deported to the Riga ghetto with her mother Emma, her husband Martin and their son Samuel. Her mother and son Samuel were murdered in the Auschwitz concentration camp in November 1943. After her liberation, Erika Manne moved with her husband in 1945 to Lidingö near Stockholm, where she died in 2002.

Samuel Manne was born in Rheine on December 31, 1939, the son of Martin and Emma Manne. On December 13, 1941 he was deported with his parents to the Riga ghetto. He was murdered in Auschwitz in November 1943, at which time he was three years old.
