Aron Baruch Ettlinger was born on January 9, 1853 in Hamburg Altona. The parents were Jakob Ettlinger, born on 17 March 1798 in Karlsruhe, last Chief Rabbi in Altona and Sophie (Sheva) Meyer, who was married in second marriage and came from Würzburg. Aron Baruch Ettlinger was married to Helene Oppenheimer, born on November 15, 1869, and the couple had two children - Jakob, born in August 1903 in Budapest/Hungary, and Rosi Rachel Regina, born in April 1907 in Fiume/Italy.
