Otto Thalmessinger saw the light of day in Ulm in 1872. His parents were the banker Nathan Thalmessinger and Jette Thalmessinger, née Steiner. Otto Thalmessinger was admitted to the bar in Stuttgart in 1899. In the same year, the above envelope already documents the existence of the law firm of Dr. Steiner, Widmaier and Thalmessinger. In the Stuttgart address book of 1900, the following entry is found in the directory of lawyers. Thalmessinger, Otto ( Dr. Steiner, Widmaier and Thalmessinger ). Königstr. 3. - In the addresses section the following entry can be found: Thalmessinger, Otto, Rechtsanw., Milit. 31.p. - From 1923 the address and also the partnership changes: Thalmessinger and Dr. Strauß, Rechtsanwälte, Marstallstr.2. Eg. - In 1926 the partnership changes again - Thalmessinger, Dr. Strauß and Dr. Mandry. - and again in 1928 - Thalmessinger I, Dr. Strauß, Dr. Mandry and Thalmessinger II. lawyers, Marstallstr.2. - With the National Socialists coming to power, repression against the Thalmessinger family also began. Otto Thalmessinger lost his notary's office, which had only been assigned to him in February 1832, on October 1, 1933. Presumably, his license to practice law was also revoked in 1938. While son Kurt Thalmessinger and daughter Else Thalmessinger managed to escape to a foreign country, the remaining parents Otto and Else Thalmessinger, together with Luise Henle (Else Thalmessinger's mother), met the fate of forced evacuation from Stuttgart to Buchau into a so-called Judenhaus (Jewish house), where Otto Thalmessinger, faced with imminent deportation, decided to commit suicide on July 21, 1942. Else Thalmessinger and her mother were deported to Theresienstadt on August 22, 1942. There Else Thalmessinger died on September 10, 1942 and her mother on December 13, 1942.
