The 1874 Berlin address book contains the following entry: Freudenberg & Meyer, Engros-Lager von Tülls, Spitzen und Weißwaaren, Poststr. 5, Inh. Bernhard Freudenberg & Paul Schwerin. Bernhard Freudenberg was born in Magdeburg on May 11, 1823. His parents were Moses Freudenberg, born September 6, 1786 in Magdeburg, and Henrietta Wolff, born March 12, 1796 in Halberstadt. Bernhard Freudenberg was married to Bertha Abraham, born April 15, 1828 at Drezdenko in Poland.Her parents were Perez Leiser Abraham. born March 28, 1798 at Drezdenko and Jeanette Meyer (Meier), born February 3, 1802 at Glogau (Glogow) in Lower Silesia. The couple had 10 children. The Freudenberg & Meyer business was owned by Bernhard Freudenberg. At the request of Perez Leiser Abraham, his wife's father and co-owner of Laer & Sohn, Bernhard Freudenberg hired Paul Schwerin, Mündel of Perez Leiser Abraham, as an apprentice. In 1875, Paul Schwerin married Clara Antonie, daughter of Bernhard Freudenberg, and became a partner in the company.
