The firm now became the Baer Law Office. After returning from the war, Martin Baer became politically involved in the German Democratic Party, of which he was the local chairman for a short time.Since the office was visited by many people to represent their interests against the National Socialists, the Jewish lawyers came into their field of vision very early on. In 1939, Dr. Martin Baer went to England to live with his son Hans, who had attended high school in Coburg in 1937, but in the meantime had gone to England to study chemistry. On the journey there he met his parents, who had meanwhile moved to New York.
