The roots of the Netheim family go back to 1784 to Ottbergen.There lived the first known ancestor of the family.Gumpert was married and died before his wife.Daughter Gella ( Helene) Gumpert (1777-1812) was married to Seligmann Salomon Eichholz and lived in Willebadessen.Son Feibelmann Gumpert Netheim (1770-1842) married Brendel Frohsinn (1772-1853).The couple had five children.Youngest son Salomon (1812-1900) was married to Henriette (Jettchen) Goldstein (1819-1901).The couple had seven children. Two girls died early in infancy.Daughter Helena (1855) married Isaak Kohn from Sandebeck and lived in Wolfsbüttel.Two sons emigrated to Australia.Kossmann Netheim (1851-1907) moved to Melbourne in 1867 at the age of 16.His younger brother Gustav (1856-1920) followed him around 1880.Salomon Netheim moved to Hüxter with his wife and sons Philipp and Levy between 1875-1880, having previously lived in Godelheim.In Hüxter he established a business for ready-made clothing and cleaning goods - at the corner of Westerbachstraße 14 and Rosenstraße 2.After the death of Salomon (1900) and Henriette (1901) Netheim, the two sons Philipp and Levy Netheim continued the business. Levy Netheim and later his son Paul took care of the business, his brother Philipp Netheim of the finances.After Philipp Netheim died in 1913 and Levy Netheim in 1919, Levy Netheim's widow continued the business together with her son Paul under the previous name S. Netheim. After returning from World War I, Paul Netheim took over the business as managing director and continued to run it until the National Socialists came to power. elected to the office as one of the leaders of the Jewish community, he held this office against all odds (Aryanization of the house) until the deportation to Theresienstadt.Paul and Sophie Netheim were murdered in Auschwitz in October 1944.
