Moritz Hanauer, merchant from Westheim was born on January 1, 1890. He lived in Göppingen in the Geislinger Stra;e. There he probably also met his later wife Julie Hirsch. From April 1938, he lived in Stuttgart at Tulpenstraß 27. Moritz Hanauer managed to escape to America. There he married Julie Hirsch from Göppingen, who had already emigrated to the U.S. in 1937. Due to the changing circumstances in her environment after the change of power in 1933 (on April 1, 1933, SA guards stood guard in front of her brother Karl Hirsch's store in Spitalstraß in Göppingen and tried to dissuade customers from shopping). According to Julie Hanauer, née Hirsch, Moritz Hanauer was also taken to the concentration camp in Dachau after the Night of Broken Glass and remained there until December 12, 1938. The couple's marriage remained childless. Moritz Hanauer died at the age of 75 in New York in October 1965. His wife Julie was still visiting Göppingen in 1970. She died in New York at the age of 92.
