The Jewish cemetery in Moers

In the early 19th century, it came to the formation of its own synagogue community, a synagogue was built. It was destroyed in November 1938. Today in its place stands a memorial in the form of an archway.

The cemetery was established at the beginning of the 19th century and later expanded. During the November pogroms the cemetery was destroyed and the gravestones were sold to stonemasons. They were returned after the war. Today they are not in the original places.

The memorial stone dates from 1948.
