Edmund Fürst, born on January 6, 1874 in Berlin - died 1955 in Tel Aviv was a painter, etcher and illustrator.His love for painting was probably already laid in the cradle.His father Gustav Gerson Fürst,who attended the „Berlin Art School“,received an education at the Royal Pattern School in Berlin and studied art in Paris from 1862 to 1870.From 1870 he made his living as a decorative painter,furnishing villas and private homes with wall and ceiling paintings.From 1872 to 1880 and 1892 he participated in the Berlin Academy Exhibitions.From 1881 - 1914 Gustav Gerson Fürst was a member of the Association of Berlin Artists Edmund Fürst walked very early in the footsteps of his father.After attending the Berlin Realgymnasium followed 4 years at the Berlin Art Academy.Participation in numerous prestigious exhibitions-1904 in the Berlin Secession (Ölgemgemde "Drachentöter"),1906-in the Great Berlin Art Exhibition (Märchenzeichnungen),1907 exhibition in the Munich Glass Palace (Two watercolors) testify über his talent and passion for painting. As a member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund he participated in the graphic exhibitions in Leipzig in 1907 and in Hamburg in 1913. At the Ullstein publishing house in Berlin he made a name for himself as a book illustrator with his drawings, engravings and lithographs.His participation in exhibitions of the Berliner Künstlerbund, as well as the Berliner Sezession with his portraits, landscapes in watercolor and Öl and his numerous etchings attracted the attention of art critics.1903 he married Johanna Katharina Lode.1916 he was drafted into the German army.This was followed by a leave of absence,because the Ullmann publishing house needed him to record the war-related expenses.After a mi;glorious attempt as a farmer, he returned to Berlin.1934 he followed his parents and emigrated with his wife to Palästina.
