Bensinger & Co. Hermann Bensinger, a native of Bodersweier in Baden, came to Frankfurt am Main in 1899 and founded " Manufakturwaren- und Textilhandel Bensinger & Co " with branches in Berlin, London and Danzig.The Frankfurt store was located at Kaiserstraße 56 until 1925, then at Kaiserstraße 71 and finally at Moselstraße 27. In 1907 Hermann Bensinger married Ida Hergershausen, a native of Mainz. In 1908, the couple's only child was born - Ernst Bensinger. Ida Bensinger, née Regensburger (Louis Bensinger's widow) and her son Fritz were also co-owners of the business. In 1929 Hermann Bensinger moved his residence and company headquarters to Berlin, while his son Ernst remained in Frankfurt (Bettinastraß). As early as 1933, Hermann and Ida Bensinger emigrated to Palestine. In 1934 son Ernst Bensinger followed his parents and also emigrated to Palestine. Ida Bensinger, née Regensburger, managed to escape to France. In 1938 she lived in Paris. Fritz Bensinger was able to flee to Canada. During the escape Ernst Bensinger and Fanny Kamm from Fulda met and fell in love. The couple married a year later. In 1952 - after the death of Hermann Bensinger - the family emigrated to New York in the USA and then 10 years later moved again from New York to Chicago. Ernst Bensinger died in 1968 at the age of 60.
