Dr. Bernhard Hallenstein

Dr. Bernhard Hallenstein was born on February 4, 1891. On December 4, 1890 Dr. Bernhard Hallenstein died in Detmold. He was married to Laura, daughter of Moses and Fanni Löwenstein from Steinheim.Whether Dr. Bernhard Hallenstein, who died in 1890, was the father of Dr. Bernhard Hallenstein, who was born in 1891, could not be determined. However, it is worth noting that the 4th postcard is addressed to Dr. B. Hallenstein at the time address J.F. Löwenstein in Steinheim. Dr. Bernhard Hallenstein was a battalion doctor in World War I and was awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class. In the address book of the city of Detmold from 1920 the following entry can be found - Lagesche Straße Nr.49 - Landkrankenhaus, Hallenstein, Dr., Bernh. assistant physician, - Meyer, Otto, medical trainee. Dr. Bernhard Hallenstein was married to Anna Thalheimer, born in Scheinfeld on January 28, 1891, to a merchant family (1919). Dr. Bernhard Hallenstein practiced as a general practitioner in Duisburg. In 1922 son Heinz was born. The Hallenstein family emigrated to Brussels as early as 1933/1934 and  on to New York in July 1934. Anna Thalheimer's mother, who moved to Duisburg with them at that time, emigrated to the Netherlands in 1933, but was deported from there from her exile in 1943 and murdered.
