Kurt Bauchwitz was born in Sangerhausen on January 27, 1881. His parents were Isidor Bauchwitz and Ida Bauchwitz, née Jüdel. Kurt Bauchwitz had 10 brothers and sisters. He himself was a lawyer and notary public by profession. Kurt Bauchwitz was married to Frieda Bauchwitz née Badt,born on 28.10.1891. - died on. 16.04.1940. The couple had 1 daughter - Charlotte, born on 11 April 1915 in Halle. Presumably as a result of the Reich Pogrom Night, Kurt Bauchwitz was taken to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. He was there until 16 December 1938 and was assigned to earthworks. After the death of his wife Frieda on April 16, 1940, Kurt Bauchwitz tried to emigrate. His brother Walter in San Domingo wanted to get him a visa. On April 15, 1942 Kurt Bauchwitz received his exit permit. On April 20, 1942 Kurt Bauchwitz married a second time - Elsa Bauchwitz, née Burghardt. After Elsa Bauchwitz learned of the impending deportation, she committed suicide on May 10, 1942. On June 1, 1942 Kurt Bauchwitz was deported to Lublin/Poland and murdered in the Sobibor extermination camp on June 3, 1942. A stumbling stone in Groß Ulrichstraß 2 in Halle commemorates the fate of Kurt Bauchwitz. In the Halberstädter Straße 13 a Stolperstein reminds of the fate of Elsa Bauchwitz.
