Alfons Goldmann was born on September 7, 1869 in Zerkow (Posen). He was married to Magalena, née Grießbach. The couple had two children - Dorothea, born on June 30, 1900 in Roßwein and Rudolf, born on July 7, 1905 in Roßwein. Adolf Goldmann was a merchant and ran a textile store - department store in Roß at Mühlstraß 18. The same house was also the Goldmann family home. When the National Socialists came to power and the repressive measures against the Jewish population and businesses increased, Alfons Goldmann moved to Leipzig. After four weeks of imprisonment in Berlin from February 17 to March 17, 1942, Alfons Goldmann was deported to Theresienstadt on March 17, 1942, on the 4th Great Old Age Transport. The date of Alfons Goldmann's death is unknown. On May 16, 1944, Alfons Goldmann's body was brought to Theresienstadt. Magdalena Goldmann survived the Holocaust, presumably because of her Protestant religious affiliation. Magdalena Goldmann emigrated to Australia with the help of her son Rudolf, who had already managed to emigrate to Australia with his family in 1939.Dorothea Goldmann trained as a commercial clerk and worked as a saleswoman. She moved from Roß to Berlin and later to Flinsberg in Silesia, where she was caught by the Gestapo and sent to Friedeberg prison. On March 27, 1942, she was deported to the Ravebsbrück concentration camp, where she died on December 19, 1944. In Roßwein 4 Stolpersteine commemorate the fate of the Goldmann family.
