Nathan Jakob, born 5 5 1879 in Regensburg was the son of Samuel Jakob and Dorothea, née Samuelewitsch, both coming from Thorn in East Prussia and moving to Regensburg after their marriage. At the time of Nathan's birth, Samuel Jakob was the sheriff in the Jewish community of Regensburg. He founded a men's clothing store, which, after he had devoted himself entirely to work (religious education) in the Jewish community, was taken over by his brother. Nathan Jacob worked in his father's business and when Uncle Hermann died suddenly, Nathan Jacob continued the business independently. When his father Samuel Jakob died in 1907, the business passed to him. On 13.1.1908 he married Anna Lewison, who was born in Gerolzhofen on 28 June 1882. The couple had 3 children - Werner (14.10.1908), Lotte (24.1.1911 - 3.3.1913) and Hermann (11.1.1919).During World War I, Nathan Jakob fought for his fatherland and was awarded the Bavarian Military Service Cross and EK II in the rank of sergeant.During this time, his wife and sister Helene ran the business. In February 1938, his son Hermann emigrated to the USA (Chicago). In the summer of 1938, Nathan Jacob and his wife decided to follow their son Hermann to the USA, only the uncertain fate (Sachsenhausen concentration camp) of their eldest son Werner holding them back.On November 9, 1938 (Reichspogromnacht), SA troops stormed Nathan Jacob's apartment and smashed furniture and furnishings. Nathan Jakob was taken away and, together with other Jewish men, humiliated and driven through the streets of the city and then transported to Dachau. On April 4, 1942, Nathan, Anna and Werner Jakob were deported to Piaski. There their trace is lost.
