Bernhard Stühler saw the light of day in Hammelburg in 1856. His parents were Moses Stühler, born in Hammelburg in 1823, and Sara Stühler, née Stiefel. The traces of the Stühler family go back to the 18th century in Hammelburg. The father of Moses Stühler (grandfather of Bernhard Stühler) had earlier the name Aaron Moses (1783 - 1861) living in the Judengasse, but in the course of the Jewish emancipation then took the family name Stühler. Bernhard Stühler married Bertha, née Sondheim. The couple had six children - August (1881), Albert (1884), Mina (1888),Selma (1889),Johanna (1892) and Moritz (1897). The sons Albert and Moritz Stühler were murdered in the Holocaust. - Bernhard Stühler was a merchant and owner of the shoe shop "Bernhard Stühler ".
