The lawyers Albert Nathan, with son Dr. Hans Nathan and the dentist Dr. Fritz Warschawski Postplatz belonged to the socially committed Görlitzers The names of the dentist and the Nathans disappeared in 1933 from the bell plates of the houses on Postplatz. Fritz Warschawski had left Germany overnight with his family, the lawyer Hans Nathan emigrated with his family to Prague. From 1925 to 1933 he worked as an independent lawyer in partnership with his father in his villa at Postplatz 6.Due to his Jewish descent and possible persecution, he fled with his family via Poland and Sweden to England.
Hans Nathan returned to Germany in 1946. He became after the founding of the GDR, 1954-62 professor and dean of the Faculty of Law of the Humboldt University of Berlin and honorary citizen of the city of Görlitz. On the occasion of the 900th anniversary Hans Nathan was awarded the honorary citizenship on 12.06.1971.
