Villa Siegfried Kaufmann

After the purchase of Körners Eisengiesserei by Müller & Kaufmann arose by acquisition and expansion Müller & Kaufmann Görlitz, Mechanical Weaving, Färberei and Finishing - with the production facilities below the villa of Siegfried Kaufmann on Uferstrasse / Bergstrasse.In 1931, a night garage was set up in the building of the Halberst Spinnhalle, which was rented and operated as a repair shop first by Grentzel and Niesler, and later, according to information in the 1936 address book, by the company O.Alzog Kraftfahrzeuge Inh. Fritz Alzog. In 1941 the hall at Uferstrasse 30 and all adjacent buildings of the company Müller & Kaufmann Görlitz, were confiscated as a result of the Aryanization of Jewish property. Little is known about the fate of the families. The owners of the Müller & Kaufmann company lost both their factory and their home, but managed to escape and emigrate to Scotland. Thus, this family escaped destruction. 

Until 1989 as VEB Kraftfahrzeugsinstandsetzungswerk Dresden - Betriebsstelle Druckluftbremse geführtrt, reminds after the years of decay only a little of the former industrial use of the buildings along the Neiße. Even if the buildings are not among the most important industrial monuments, they are now listed as a visible sign of industrialization.
