In the address book for Munich 1876, the following entry is found in the alphabetical list of residents - Wassermann Elkan, owner of the spirit, brandy, liqueur and vinegar factory Max Wassermann Compt, Sendlingerstr.82. - Factory Sendlingerstr.82, Spitalstr. 9 and Thalkirchnerstr. 33.Factory Sendlingerstr.82, Spitalstr. 9 and Thalkirchnerstr. 33 - Läden Sebastiansplatz 4 - Zweibrückenstr. 22 and Sendlingerthorplatz 1a. - Kommerzienrat Max Wassermann (1825-1885) was the founder and head of the Max Wassermann spirit, brandy, liqueur and vinegar factory. Elkan David Wassermann also joined the company in 1853 after moving to Munich and, after the death of Kommerzienrat and company founder Max Wassermann, took the company's fortunes into his own hands until his own death in 1901. After that, his oldest son Karl (1850-1915) took over the factory. After the death of Karl Wassermann, his son Ludwig Wassermann together with Ferdinand Wassermann (an uncle of Ludwig and partner of Max Wassermann) took over the management of the company in the years 1915 - 1926. Ludwig Wassermann operated the Max Wassermann factory for alcohol and vinegar until its Aryanization in 1936. The company, which belonged to this of Dr. Ludwig Wassermann and Dr. Walter Wassermann (son of the Kommerzienrat Ferdinand Wassermanns and former senior boss of the house), was transferred to the Heinrich Nicolaus KG from the Allgäu überschrieben.
