Cäcilie Weissenstein née Held was born in Wertheim on May 28, 1881. Almost nothing is known about her life.

She was a subtenant of Dr. Fritz Scherbel at Sybelstraße 12, where 27 Jewish people lived on 5/17/1939 (census). Whether he was Jewish is uncertain, in any case he does not appear on any deportation list. In the address book he was listed as a publisher's bookseller until 1940, but not after that. Erich Guttmann, born on February 10, 1901 in Hirschberg in the Riesengebirge, who was deported to Auschwitz on March 12, 1943, also lived with him. Cäcilie Weissenstein was deported to Auschwitz on December 14, 1942 (the statement in the Yad Vashem victims file that she was deported to Riga is not correct) and was murdered there at the age of 61.
