Jacob Treumann founded the "Hop Shop J. Treumann" in Bamberg in 1887. Jacob Treumann, born on September 11, 1846 in Mühlhausen/Mfr was married to Babette, née Öttinger, born on February 20, 1855 in Regensburg. Jacob Treumann died on August 27, 1919 in Bamberg. Babette Öttinger died on December 13, 1930 in Bamberg. The couple had 6 children - Rudolf, born on June 19, 1876, - Paul,born on January 1, 1878 - emigrated to the USA before 1925; Bella, born on March 10, 1880, - Olga, born on 12. November 1882 - married to the merchant Haase, Fritz, born on June 27, 1884 - died on October 27, 1934; - was married to Else,née.Schmidt, Irma, born on August 28, 1888, - married to the merchant Willy Schmidt from Baiersdorf. Rudolf Treumann and his brother Fritz Treumann were the later owners of the hop shop founded by their father.Rudolf Treumann fled to the Netherlands as early as 1933. In 1936 he lived in The Hague. After the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands on May 10, 1940, he chose suicide. Else Treumann, widow of Fritz Treumann, who died on Oct. 27, 1934, was the last owner of the hop shop. In 1935 she sold the company to Christian merchants from Munich. On September 5, 1938, she fled to the USA together with her sons Hans, born in 1921, and Walter, born in 1924.
