The cemetery, first mentioned in 1804, may have originated as early as the 17th or 18th century. After 1933 - and especially in the wake of the 1938 pogroms - it was repeatedly desecrated, and in 1950-52 some gravestones were put back in place. It was not until 2006 that a group of students from the local gymnasium began a thorough restoration: stones were placed as far as possible, gravestone debris was collected, and the entire site was restored to a suitably dignified condition. Nevertheless, only about 20 gravestones still bear witness to what was once one of the largest cemeteries in the region.
Coming from the city center one follows the count Siegfried road and after the traffic circle the road "Im Hagen". From this one turns right into the street "Erdenbach". Where this expands to a free place and half-left the street "Am Ehrenmal" branches off is on the left side the entrance building to the very well-kept cemetery.
