On the history of the small Jewish community of Jáchymov - with the historical designation 'synagogue community Alt-Grimnitz' - very little information is available. Since around 1750 - when six Jewish families lived there - a piece of land was allocated to them as a burial ground, it can be assumed that Jews had been resident in Jáchymov (at least) since the first half of the 18th century; it would be conceivable that they - like the Jews in various places in the region - came there as a result of the repopulation policy of the Prussian Elector Friedrich Wilhelm in the second half of the 17th century, but evidence of this is not known. Probably in the later years of the 19th century, the few Jews of Jáchymov joined the community in nearby Angermünde.
The small cemetery has about 60 grave sites, today there are about 20 gravestones as well as some recognizable grave sites. The last burial took place in 1937.
