Adalbert Moritz Rentschner, born 1883 in Czernowitz

Frania Rentschner (née Biegeleisen), born in 1892 in Lemberg

Heinz Leopold Rentschner, born in 1922 in Berlin

In 1933, the first laws affecting the lives of the Rentschner family make themselves felt: On October 21, 1933, the family was expatriated. Thus, the family was suddenly stateless. The increasingly arduous and threatening living conditions lead the family to attempt to reverse the expatriation. This attempt remained unsuccessful. From 1937-1942, the family lived at 29 Tile-Wardenbergerstraße, their fourth residence in Berlin and also their last. In December 1938, Adalbert Rentschner was dismissed from the glass and metal goods factory due to the legal regulations (1938 ban on Jews working), so the family then made attempts to escape. During this time (1939), their son went to England with the Kindertransport at the age of 17. However, the parents' efforts to emigrate to America or Shanghai failed. On 09.12.1942 Adalbert and Frania were deported to Auschwitz and murdered there. The son Heinz lived in London until about 2003.
