On 01.10.1898 the Jew Harry Hahn founded the Berlin Rowing Club "Triton" e.V. He became 1st chairman, while Herbert Gedalius acted as secretary and Siegfried Glasfeld as 1st treasurer. It was obvious to all that it was a Jewish club, since in the middle of the flag a Star of David was placed.
The club consisted of comrades who pursued these leisure activities with fun; and ambition. After the association über long time no own property possessed; and only with other associations/owners accommodated, the 1st chairman Harry cock bought 1927 a water property of the factory owner Alfred Sander at the Spree, in the Sedanstraße 49 at that time. The next year the foundation stone was laid for the boathouse, which later had common rooms and rentable rooms. The money used for the construction and purchase shows that the association must have been quite large already at that time. During the whole time the association was friendly and helpful, offered financial support and religion was not in the foreground. After the NSDAP took power, the departure of non-Jewish members was recorded. However, since Jüdinnen*Juden were less tolerated in other associations, the association got an increase in members.
1935 this peaceful association was forcibly expropriated and dissolved.
