Simon Oberdorfer ran a bicycle shop and repair shop at Arnulfsplatz 4 and the local - establishment " Velodrom ". Already in 1898, the Velodrom was visited by well over 1200 people in one event. There was temporarily a 32-man " People's Symphony Orchestra ", but also magicians, jugglers, artists and singers were guests. In addition to a musical program such as the overture from the operetta "Die schöne Galathee" by Franz von Suppe, the waltz "Weana Madln" by Carl Michael Ziehrer, the march "Donnerwetter-tadellos" by Paul Linke or the aria from the opera "Das Glöckchen des Eremiten" by Louis Mailart, Simon Oberdorfer also organized boxing matches and show events in which contortionists, clowns, ventriloquists and tap dancers and Schuhplattler performed. In addition, there were theater and dance events. In 1929, the Velodrom developed into the "Capitol". In 1939 Simon Oberdorfer, his wife Hedwig Oberdorfer and his sister Maria Kugler and brother-in-law Julius Springer, along with 900 other Israelites, attempted to emigrate to Cuba on the Hapag steamer " St. Louis ". After a landing ban in Cuba and weeks of waiting and uncertainty in the North Atlantic, the "St. Louis" and its passengers returned to Europe, where the fugitives were then taken up in Belgium, Great Britain, France and the Netherlands. Simon and Hedwig Oberdorfer, Maria Kugler and Julius Springer were allowed to disembark in Antwerp and found shelter in Naarden, a small town north of Hilversum. Maria Kugler moved to Los Angeles in October 1939. Simon and Hedwig Oberdorfer had to experience the invasion of the Wehrmacht in 1940 and were subsequently deported to the Westerbork concentration camp, from there to the Sobobor extermination camp and murdered there on April 30, 1943.
