Benedikt Elsas Way

The Benedikt-Elsas-Weg in Remseck-Aldingen is named after the textile entrepreneur Benedikt Elsas (1816-1876), who came from Aldingen, was the first Jew to be able to train as a weaver there and started his own weaving mill in 1844 at Schlößlesstraße 2 (Aldingen Old Schoolhouse). In 1850, the company moved to Ludwigsburg. The "mechanical colored weaving mill Elsas und Söhne"  developed there into one of the most successful textile factories in Württemberg in the 19th century. The company existed until its "Aryanization" in 1938.
