The massive hall of Wilhelm Wertheimer at the railroad station, about 30 m long and 15 m wide, was destroyed on September 9, 1924, by a whirlwind that overturned a large number of telegraph poles and uprooted about 600 fruit trees on its way along the road from Kippenheim to Lahr.
