Old cemetery (Regensburg)

Gravestone of the medieval Jewish cemetery of Regensburg. The tombstone is located in Kelheim at the Stadtapotheke, Donaustraße 16. The inscription is translated as follows: "This is the memorial stone of Orgia, daughter of Rabbi Jehuda, who entered her resting place on the 7th of the month of Tammus, on the 4th day, Wednesday, of the year 5 thousand and nine..." (= June 27, 1249)

The gravestone comes from the cemetery of the Jewish community of Regensburg, desecrated after 1519. Its location in Straubing is Rosengasse, originally Judengasse and the residential quarter of the Jewish community expelled in 1442 (photo taken in 1980s).
