Schiftan, Ilse

Ilse Betty Schiftan was born on 18.9.1888 in Berlin as the daughter of the merchant Georg Schiftan and his wife Gertrud, née Wesel. She lived at least since 1939 as a subtenant with Mrs. Pauline Borchardt in the house at Nymphenburger Str. 4. In the fall of 1941, three other Jews, Mr. and Mrs. Baum and Mrs. Hedwig Sass, who had been expelled from their apartment, were quartered there. They were deported as early as January 1942. Soon after, Mrs. Borchardt and Mrs. Schiftan were also expelled from their apartment. Ilse Schiftan spent the last months of her life at Konstanzer Str. 11, from where she was deported to Riga on September 5, 1942. Immediately after her arrival on 8.9.1942 she was murdered.
