Emma Bry was born on February 3, 1871 in Schöneck in West Prussia in present-day Poland. The marriage of Emma and Hermann Bry remained childless. After the death of her husband, Emma Bry took over the business at Baumschulenstraße 12, but the name "Kaufhaus Hermann Bry" was retained. The pogrom night on November 9, 1938 also affected their store. It was destroyed and looted and subsequently "Aryanized." On September 14, 1942, she was deported to Theresienstadt on the "2nd large old-age transport" (train number "Da 514") from the Berlin-Moabit freight station (Putlitzstraße). Before that, she was forced to sign a "home purchase contract" and all her assets were confiscated. On April 19, 1944 she was murdered in Theresienstadt.
