Metalworker Heinrich Uetzfeld resigned from the SPD in 1931 and joined the Socialist Workers' Party of Germany (SAPD). Its main goal was to create a united front of all workers' organizations, primarily including the SPD and KPD, in order to effectively fight the strengthening National Socialism. After the seizure of power, he and Alexander Zimmermann organized the underground work of the SAPD in Neukölln and distributed illegal anti-fascist writings such as the "Neue proletarische Kampffront." In December 1933, Uetzfeld was arrested by the Gestapo, which had managed to intercept and decode a letter. After serving a three-year prison sentence, Uetzfeld resumed his resistance activities and made efforts to rebuild the SAPD groups, which by then had been largely broken up. In March 1940 he was arrested again and taken into "protective custody," which he initially spent in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. On September 16, 1940, he was transferred to the Dachau concentration camp. Here he died on February 24, 1941 as a result of the prison conditions. The Stolperstein was donated on November 29, 2013 by the then class 8c of the Albert-Einstein-Oberschule.
