Albert Falk was born into a Jewish family in Beckum, Westphalia, on February 17, 1885. He studied medicine in Freiburg and Munich, passed the state examination in 1909 and received his doctorate with a thesis on the therapy of tuberculosis. He fought in World War I as an officer and became seriously ill at the end of the war. He married the physician Erna Levi, and their children were born in Berlin: Werner in 1923 and Renate in 1925. The family lived from 1920 onwards at Hauptstraße 30, where Albert Falk also had his practice. His license to practice was revoked as early as 1933, then in the mid-1930s he received the Cross of Honor for front-line fighters. His wife was able to practice until 1938 because she had worked in an epidemic hospital during the First World War. The family had to move to Hauptstraße 5 to acquaintances. After the Reich Pogrom Night, friends offered to hide him. Dr. Albert Falk refused and chose to flee to his death on December 18, 1938. His wife and children managed to emigrate to Australia in June 1939.
