Marta Jacobsohn was born in Karthaus on December 14, 1872, to Jewish parents Isaac Jacobsohn and his wife. On March 17, 1898 she married the merchant Adolph Ephraim. Their two sons were born, Kurt on February 15, 1903 and Walter on June 15, 1906. Adolf Ephraim was the owner of a "Blusen-Haus", which was located at Rheinstraße 62 in Friedenau from 1910 to 1917. In 1935, the family moved to Fregestraße 80, transverse building, 3 stairs. Kurt married Charlotte Rosa Ernestine Heymann (born December 27, 1904), and on February 19, 1931, their son Frank was born in Berlin. Adolph Ephraim died on November 4, 1938. Kurt emigrated with his family to Manila (Philippines) in February 1939. Presumably after Adolph Ephraim's death, Marta Ephraim's sister, the widowed Pauline Cohn, née Jacobsohn, moved in with Marta Ephraim. The son Walter studied law and worked as a lawyer in Berlin; after his license was revoked, he tried to gain a foothold as a real estate agent. Marta Ephraim was penniless and was supported by the Jewish community. On October 18, 1941, she was deported to the Litzmannstadt ghetto together with Pauline Cohn, her son Walter Ephraim and her cousin Anna Kulp, née Jacobsohn. She died on November 9, 1941.
