Eva-Maria Buch was born in Berlin on January 31, 1921 and last lived in Mariendorf at Hochfeilerweg 23a from 1935. In 1941, she met the KPD functionary Wilhelm Guddorf through her work in an antiquarian bookshop and thus came into contact with a resistance group of the Red Orchestra around Harro Schulze-Boysen and Arvid Harnack. She also worked as a language teacher at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin and translated articles for the illegal newspaper "Die innere Front", which was intended for foreign forced laborers and which she helped to distribute. After the group was uncovered by the Gestapo, Eva-Maria Buch was arrested on October 11, 1942. The main trial before the 2nd Senate of the Reich Court Martial against Eva-Maria Buch and many other members of the resistance group took place from February 1 to 3, 1943. The charge was "preparation of a highly treacherous enterprise and aiding the enemy", for which she was sentenced to death on February 3, 1943 (as were almost all the other members of her resistance group). A plea for pardon from her parents was rejected by Adolf Hitler himself on July 21, 1943, and on August 5, 1943, at the age of 22, she was executed by guillotine in Plötzensee Prison.
