Lotte Alice Peiser was born in Berlin on July 4, 1921, the third child of Heinrich Peiser, a liquor manufacturer, and his wife Gertrude Trude née Mendelssohn. Their siblings were Annemarie (born February 1, 1910 in Posen) and Hans-Günther (born and died in 1920). The family moved to Berlin and in 1921 lived first at Neue Bayreuther Strasse 8 (today Welserstraße) at the corner of Viktoria-Luise-Platz, later in the house Viktoria-Luise-Platz 5 IV. OG. Heinrich Peiser bought both houses.

Heinrich Peiser was born in Posen on April 30, 1875, the son of Samuel Peiser, a liquor manufacturer, and his wife Marie, née Posner. His siblings were Julia (1873), Alfred (1876), Selma (1877), Amanda (1882) and Leo (1883), who died at the age of 4. Heinrich Peiser ran the family liqueur factory with his father in Posen. In 1909 he married Gertrude Trude Mendelssohn. Their daughter Annemarie was born in Posen on February 1, 1910, followed by Hans-Günther in 1920, but he died after a few days. Then Lotte Alice was born in Berlin on July 4, 1921.
