Georg Moses Max Kaliski was born in Danzig on January 7, 1894, the son of Louis Simon Kaliski and his wife Rosalie Antonie née Nickel. His siblings were Paula Ernestine, Frida Pauline, Ella Rosalie and Walter Louis. When he came to Berlin is unknown. At the end of the 1930s he was an official at the Jewish Community, he administered the Choriner Strasse clothing store and was sworn in by the Gestapo because of this function. In 1939 he married the secretary Antonia (Toni) Boronow and moved in with her and her mother at Habsburgerstraße 12. The marriage was probably arranged.
