A synagogue was built in 1780. A document recorded in this regard: "The base area 1780 from Jüdle Katz received as a gift and in the same year the synagogue was built." The building was renovated several times in the following 150 years, including in 1863 and for the last time in 1928. The synagogue was a half-timbered building with half and full round arch windows, built on a sandstone foundation. The shallow trough vault inside was painted with ornaments in gray and red.

Jewish community life was initially maintained after 1933. In August 1935, even a renewed renovation of the synagogue was advised. In March 1938, the windows of the synagogue were smashed. By 1937 it had already become difficult to hold regular services due to the minyan (the number of Jewish men attending services in tens), which had hardly materialized. During the November pogrom in 1938, the synagogue was broken into, the furniture was destroyed, five Torah scrolls were torn up and the remaining ritual items were set on fire. The local fire chief, who was known for his correct attitude towards Jews, prevented the synagogue from burning down. He had it extinguished, explaining that otherwise he could not guarantee that the fire would also endanger the neighboring buildings. A short time later, the synagogue building was sold to a local resident for the value of the land. Until the early 1990s, some of the interior furnishings were still in place, including the parapet of the former women's gallery. Then the building was converted into a residential house. In the process, the structural substance was changed, especially in the interior, so that hardly any traces of its former use as a synagogue remain.

Next to the former synagogue stood the former home of the butcher and cattle dealer Emanuel Stein (Fellener Straße 14). Above the entrance gate is to this day a Hebrew inscription with the Hebrew letters A B A (perhaps Abraham Ben Abraham or similar) and the year (5)576 = 1815/16.

From the synagogue in Burgsinn the commandment tablets are still preserved. They are kept in the Documentation Center of the Würzburg City Archives.
