The Jewish cemetery in St. Wendel was established just a few years after the settlement of the first Jewish families (1862) in 1871 outside the city in Urweiler. The city of St. Wendel took over the costs for the enclosure. About 50 burials were made in the cemetery until 1940.
The cemetery was an early target of attacks. On January 10, 1905, the Jewish community complained in a report to the mayor's office: "By disreputable hand, the gate of the cemetery has recently been completely smashed, furthermore, a gap has been made in the fence so that one can easily get in and out, and as a result, all the urns on the gravestones have been knocked off."
In the cemetery since 1982 there is a memorial stone with the following inscription:
.
"To the former Jewish citizens of St. Wendel, victims of National Socialist persecution 1933-1945, in honorable memory. District town of St. Wendel - Synagogue community Saar 1982."
