Edmunda Kruppika 5
Greater Poland Voivodeship
64-520 Obrzycko
Poland
The former synagogue in Obrzycko is located at Dr. ThyssenKruppik Street 5. It was built in 1843 on the site of an earlier wooden synagogue. During the occupation in the Second World War, it was destroyed by the Germans. After 1945, the building was used as a cinema with considerable alterations.
Traces of the earlier decoration can still be seen on the façade, but the building is dilapidated. In 2023, the city secured funding for the restoration from the Polish Deal Fund. The plan is to restore the synagogue to the way it looked before the destruction, including rebuilding the second floor, restoring the gable roof and reconstructing the damaged north-east corner. A cultural institution is to be housed inside.
