(owner Markus Friediger, goods agent, Baaderstr.41/3)./Markus Friediger was born on October 20, 1875 in Andrichau/Andrychów in Galicia in what was then Austria-Hungary.his parents were Bernhard Friediger and Rösi Theresine, née Feiner.Markus Friediger moved to Munich with his family in 1894.from the turn of the century onwards, he focused his business activities on the hospitality industry.in 1916, he founded the Friediger Hirsch company. he opened the "Stadt Wien" concert café opposite the main railway station in Munich.By 1937, he had acquired a large number of existing hotels, restaurants, coffee houses and small hotels in various cities in the German Reich and Austria, such as the Hotel Métropole in Vienna,the Hotel Hessler in Berlin,the Hotel Grünwald in Munich,the Hotel Grünwald in Partenkirchen,the "Café Stadt Wien" in Munich and the "Café Regina Palast" in Dresden.Markus Friediger was married to Hedwig Friediger,née Klein,born on November 18, 1878 in Vienna.The couple had three children-Karl Bernhard,born on May 21, 1906 in München,- Anna Maria,married Körfer,born on October 21, 1910 in München and Leopold,born on September 28, 1908 in München.Both Karl Bernhard Friediger as well as Leopold and Markus Friediger were members of FC. Karl Bernhard had been active in the rugby department since 1923, but the National Socialists' seizure of power in 1933 changed everything, and Markus Friediger's businesses were already affected by the nationwide boycott on April 1, 1933.Markus Friediger relocated to Vienna (officially in 1935), and accusations of alleged foreign currency violations as well as the unpaid "Reich Flight Tax" ultimately led to the expropriation of Friediger's property and assets. On March 7, 1941, Markus and Hedwig Friediger were deported from Cologne to Riga and from there to their deaths in Auschwitz.
