A census in Maßbach in 1687 also mentions a Jewish schoolmaster with his wife and 4 children. At this time, there were only 29 Jewish citizens living in Ma bach.
In 1804, compulsory schooling for Jewish children was introduced in Bavaria. The Jewish edict issued in 1813 allowed Jewish communities to set up their own schools, but only if they bore the costs themselves. From the report of the school records of the Catholic school in Maßbach dated March 17, 1818 "In the name of His Majesty the King the following was decreed:
1. the Jewish community has to pay a „deposit“.
2. the Jewish children of compulsory school age are to be incorporated into the existing Catholic school in M&Slig;b.
3. for the teacher's salary, school fees of 1 fl 36 x are to be paid by each Jewish schoolchild.
4. The Jewish families of the community all have to pay the school fees together with the other members of the school community.
In the registry office records of the Protestant pastor, for the isr. parish, at the beginning of the register of births part II. : „ On June 22, 1818, the isr. children there attended the catholic school for the first time“.
The school records of the catholic/isr. school Maßbach from Aug. 12 1819 report among other things, that: of the 73 weekday pupils, 25 are Israelites.
The Sunday school is attended by 9 boys and 6 girls, 11 of whom are Israelites who also take private lessons.
The industrial school is attended by 47 boys and 59 girls, including 59 Protestant and 11 Israelite children.
In the current school year, a Jewish house was rented and furnished as a school. There are no books for the children.
Götz Ullman is a Jewish teacher and rabbi in Maßbach from 1833 to 1870.
In 1879 the new teacher is Hirsch Goldstein (24 years old, living in house no. 45). In 1880, he marries Regina Marx.
In April 1895, the Israelite religious community offered its school house at no. 45 for sale. Pastor Rosenbauer bought it for 2500 marks for the newly founded kindergarten association.
