Mirjam Pressler, born 18.06.1940 (as Mirjam Gunkel), died on 16.01.2019.
The well-known writer, author and artist, publisher of the "Diaries of Anne Frank" lived in Landshut for the last years of her life (2007 - 2019), her grave is located in the main cemetery in the city. When the news of Mirjam Pressler's move to Landshut was published in the Landshuter Zeitung, citizens reacted with great encouragement. Unfortunately, Mirjam Pressler only had a few years in Landshut, because after a short time she was diagnosed with a local disease (cancer), which she fought with great courage and confidence. She quickly became involved and networked in Landshut's cultural scene, and in 2017 she was awarded the City of Landshut's Culture Prize. She organized readings and numerous cultural events in the city and district of Landshut.
People from Landshut and the surrounding area reacted to Mirjam Pressler's death with great sadness and grief. Her death was a great loss for Landshut's cultural scene.
