Sanitätsrat Dr. Jakob Frank (born 21 May 1871 in Forchheim; died 31 May 1953 in New York) was a surgeon who was famous far beyond Germany, the first director of the clinic and played a major role in its construction and design. In 1912, Frank married into a well-known and wealthy Jewish family Kleefeld (Spielefabrik L. Kleefeld & Co.). His wife became Alice Frank (born April 23, 1891 - died ), née Kleefeld, on February 26, 1912. The marriage produced their son Ludwig Frank (born 14 January 1913, died 4 April 2003) and daughter Helene Frank (born 16 December 1918, died 26 January 2004).[1]
Sanitätsrat Dr. Frank was born in Forchheim on 21 May 1871, the son of the merchant Isaak Frank.
He acquired the stately detached house at what was then Hindenburgstrasse 29, now Rudolf-Breitscheid-Strasse, from the Humbser brewery and set up his practice and living space there.
Dr. Frank's private practice was located on the first floor of Hindenburgstrasse 29, his mother-in-law Thekla Kleefeld lived on the second floor and Dr. Jakob Frank, his wife Alice F., née Kleefeld, and their two children lived on the second floor, née Kleefeld and their two children Ludwig and Helene.
