"The oldest Jewish cemetery was located on the Helenenberg and was officially opened in 1867, but was closed again in 1900, as it could no longer be expanded.
It was leveled during the National Socialist era.
Today there is only a memorial stone on the site.
The other remaining tombstones were partly put up again on the Ledderken cemetery." (Klaus Wupper, 1/2022)
In 1893, the Ledderken cemetery was opened in Witten Mitte. There were 200 people buried until 1941. There are still 130 stones there. It was still buried in this cemetery until 1989.
The first cemetery in Annen was located on the communal cemetery in Annen since 1876. Due to lack of space, a new cemetery was opened on Diesterwegstrasse. This cemetery was built over by the Anner Gussstahlwerke.
The second cemetery in Annen was located at the Annen Communal Cemetery from 1898. It was used for the burial of forced laborers. Here are two memorial stones.
