The Jüdische Friedhof Berne im niedersächsischen Landkreis Wesermarsch is about 810 m² groß. The cemetery was established in 1895 on a private plot of land by Louis Koopmann. The oldest existing gravestone in the cemetery dates back to 1895. Cemetery in Berne dates from 1895; it is the gravestone for the founder of the cemetery, Louis Koopmann. A last burial took place in 1928 for Albert Koopmann. In 1933 there were only 15 people left in the synagogue community of Berne, distributed among three families. In 1938 the congregation was actually dissolved; the synagogue building on Lange Strasse was sold in the same year and used as a residential building from then on. The cemetery was privately owned by the Koopmann family from 1895 to 2014; most recently by a great-grandson of the cemetery founder, Ernest Koopmann from the USA. Only in 2014 it was officially handed over to the Landesverband der Jüdischen Gemeinden von Niedersachsen ü
