From 1820 there were individual Jews in Haaren. Although the community strove for independence, the construction of a synagogue was refused. Even for the establishment of a prayer room it was not enough because of the small number of Jews.

For a long time, the Haaren Jews buried their dead in Aachen. The community there refused further burials in 1837. Since the Catholic community of haaren also refused burials on or near their Kichhof, the need arose to buy their own plot. The cemetery was established in 1879. It was destroyed during the 2nd World War. A memorial was established on the plot from the destroyed gravestones.
