At the end of the 19th century, almost all German student fraternities no longer accepted Jews. Jewish fraternities were founded. "Fearless and faithful!" was the motto of the Berlin fraternity Sprevia, founded in 1894. Two years later it joined the "Kartell-Convent deutscher Studenten jüdischen Glaubens" (KC). The KC summarized its goals as follows: "The fraternities of the KC stand on the ground of German patriotic sentiment. Their purpose is the fight against anti-Semitism in the German student body and the education of their members to become self-confident Jews who, aware that the German Jews form a part of the people indissolubly bound to the German fatherland by history, cultural and legal community, are at all times ready and able to stand up for the political and social equality of the Jews."
The Sprevia had its fraternity house at Englische Str. 27 in Charlottenburg between 1919-1929.
