Alexander Freund's education was marked by many different places and stages.

He attended elementary and then secondary school in Wroclaw, his father's hometown. Right after that, he was already aware that he wanted to become a teacher. Alexander Freund went to the Israelite Preparatory School in Schwabach (Bavaria) for two years. The preparatory school followed the secondary school and was the first part of the Jewish elementary school teacher training. It prepared the students for the attendance of the teacher seminars.

Alexander Freund continued his teacher training in Cologne. There he attended such a teacher seminar for Jewish teachers* for one year. In March 1909, Freund passed his first teacher's examination at the Royal Teachers' Seminary in Odenkirchen, today a district of Mönchengladbach.

From 01 September 1909 he taught in Delmenhorst. He took his main examination for village school teachers* in Oldenburg on September 20, 1919 and passed it with the grade sufficient. Alexander Freund remained a teacher in Delmenhorst until 1937, when he moved to Oldenburg. After his many changes of location to the west and north, he stayed longer in one place after his education.
